Elizabeth A. Kanter
Senior Consultant

Elizabeth Kanter is a Senior Consultant for Global Policy Partners and is based in London. She comes to GPP with over ten years experience in the high-tech and international trade policy areas. Her particular strength lies in her deep understanding of the UK political scene, her ability to work across and within corporate communications teams developing comprehensive Government Relations strategies, and securing US Government advocacy for international business projects. Ms. Kanter began her career in Washington, DC, and has experience working in-house at large corporations, trade associations and a think-tank. She has been London-based since 2001.
Prior to associating with GPP, Ms. Kanter worked as an Account Director at London-based Portland PR directing major accounts there including SKY, Google, and Vodafone.
Prior to her work at Portland, Ms. Kanter was VP, Government Affairs for Marconi Corporation, a global provider of telecommunications equipment and services. During her tenure at Marconi, Ms. Kanter was charged with developing Marconi’s Global Government Affairs programme. Ms. Kanter was successful in creating strong alliances with the UK and other Governments, developing relationships with the diplomatic community in key markets including China, Russia and the US, and raising the company’s profile within and outside of the UK.
Prior to joining Marconi, from 1997-2004 Ms Kanter held a variety of roles with Nortel both in Washington, DC and London. In 2001, she became Head of Government Relations UK. In this role, Ms Kanter was intimately involved with advising senior company leaders on methods for exploiting political connections to influence policymaking.
Ms. Kanter has worked with the Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) for many years and currently serves as its Director of European Affairs. In the past, she also worked with the European Institute think-tank.
Ms. Kanter has extensive experience in the UK technology space having served on the Board of Intellect, the UK’s premier technology trade association, the Electronics Leadership Council, a Government-sponsored industry advisory body, and the UK Telecommunications Academy, an organisation aimed at promoting hi-tech education in developing countries.
Ms. Kanter received a Masters Degree from American University’s School of International Service and a Bachelor's Degree in Communication from the University of California at San Diego. Ms. Kanter also studied at the Université Stendhal in Grenoble, France.
